Mwalimu Titus Isogol’s Eight point Agenda

In a recent interview with Busia County journalists, Mwalimu Titus Isogol stated that his intention to offer himself for office as MP Teso South Constitueny was anchored on 8 core issues which he feels passionate about.

These are: -

1.      Education – being a teacher, it didn’t come as a surprise that this came first !   He disclosed that he is in the process of setting up a bursary fund that shall support needy but bright children, he also stressed that as MP he shall ensure schools in the constituency take up their rightful position as academic GIANTS.

2.      Health – Mwalimu says that one of the targets he set for himself is to ensure that each Ward has an operational public dispensary that is well stocked with relevant drugs.

3.      Wealth Creation and Poverty Alleviation -  Mwalimu promised to bring in revolutionary approaches to poverty alleviation, he hinted at a partnership with a local Microfinance Institution that may be giving business advice and training to his constituents while offering business start up loans at less than market rate interest rates, he also disclosed an arrangement to acquire motorbikes from the said Microfinance for the youths - which they will pay for at their own pace.

4.      Security -  The rising cases of insecurity have made Mwalimu Isogol a worried man and he vows to ensure community policing is embraced, as well as ensuring corrupt and inefficient security officers are transferred and moved out of the constituency.

5.      Women and Youth Empowerment -   Mwalimu Isogol wondered why the current legislator hasn’t promoted the uptake of both the Women Funds and the Uwezo Fund loans for youths, yet these loans attract zero interest rates ! He also mentioned that his first year in office if elected will see the setting up of atleast one Technical Training Institute in each ward, so that youths are equipped with skills that they can use to support themselves and earn a living.

6.      Infrastructural development – The poor road network in the constituency needs urgent fixing and Mwalimu says he is upto the task, more so ensuring that all roads are murramed via CDF funds while at the same time lobbying both the County and national Governments to tarmac the major roads in the constituency.

7.      Water – He saw the need to drill additional boreholes so as to reduce distances covered in search of water, he also stressed that he is already in touch with civil society organizations such as LifeStraw so as to ensure people use safe and clean drinking water.

8.      Food Security  - Isogol acknowledges that Agriculture is indeed the backbone of the Kenyan economy, hence his resolve to promote farming in the constituency and commercial farming for that matter.
