This Week in Busia recently interviewed the self declared OJ supporter number 1 - he took issue with some people referring to him as an Ojaamong Sycophant, this is what he had to say
..........................................
..........................................
Over the past few months, some people have dared to refer
to me as an Ojaamong sycophant
After much thought and reflection, i ask WHY NOT ?
What is so wrong if I am a “sycophant” of a man who is determined to transform Busia into
Caanan (the land of milk and honey)
-
OJ has fastracked infrastructural development
– with the county even acquiring high capacity graders among other heavy
machinery – we are thus sure to have lots of new bridges and passable roads
-
OJ’s love for education has seen him launch a
massive County Bursaries project
-
Our health sector recently got a boost, just imagine a brand new ambulance for each
sub-county , my area hospital – Khunyangu Health Center has been fenced and a
maternity theatre wing is nearing completion,
hence if am indeed a sycophant, i
wonder WHY NOT !
-
Matatu and bus stops are getting boda boda sheds
as well as a general facelift – This has
already happened in my home area at Bumala, Murumba, Bukhalalire etc !!!! mbona nisiwe sycophant and yet OJ is
flooding us with pro-poor development initiatives?
-
With the fertilizer project, OJ confirmed
that he is indeed a true friend to the farmers, asante your exellency
-
OJ is smart , he is keen to tackle the
problem of unemployment, and Busia Sugar factory that is already under
construction will go a long way in employing us, we the tarmaking youths
-
Of all things done by OJ, i admire most his
commitment to Human Rights, Democracy and Good Governance, our guy deeply
believes in justice , cohesion, transparency and accountability – I discovered
this when I learnt that he had welcomed NGO’s to monitor and partner with his
administration, he closely works with the National taxpayers association (an
NGO that is feared and hated by most politicians), we even have an Anti
Corruption agency headed by one Mr.Adungo Adungosi , in addition to that
Transitional Authority that enjoys a cordial relationship with our county CEO
-
Boreholes are being drilled left right and
center, the rigs are criss crossing the county, kama si OJ kwa kweli tungekuwa wapi ? My own sister no longer pushes a
wheelbarrow for 2 kilometers, maji yameletwa kwa village
-
OJ has been key in the promotion of the
county’s culture and heritage – am told that he is even working on some sort of
county dress, to further unite us
-
OJ has overseen the growth of commerce and
the county economy in leaps and bounds, this is evidenced by the influx of for
example Banks in the county – we have Banks that we had only seen on TV such as
SMEP Bank, DTB, Rafiki, Faulu etc etc – lots of new investments more so in the
hospitality sector, we now have world class hotels in Busia such as The Breeze
Hotel.
-
While the entire Luhya community is still
toying around with the idea of a Mulembe Community Bank, OJ on his part has put
Busia miles ahead as we even have a well funded County docket dedicated to cooperative
development !, soon our cooperatives
will grow into homegrown county banks
-
While other politicians are running around
making noise - OJ is busy building the labour and human resource capacity of
the county, we now have a KMTC on the way , KCA University is already open , Masinde
Muliro University Campuses are there among other notable colleges – soon we
shall even be exporting manpower as a county,
am thus very very very proud of OJ,
i CARE LESS if am called his
sycophant !
-
OJ naye ni mwana sporti – and we thank him
for his support to football teams
-
Slaughter houses are all over the county, a
new one is now operational in Bumala – kwa kweli issues of public health and
sanitation rank highly in the OJ administration
-
People forget quickly, but I haven’t – i thank OJ for doing away with oppressive
taxes that would have seen us dig deeper into our pockets even to slaughter
chicken or even bury our beloved
-
OJ realizes that we are on planet earth and
we have no planet B, if we destroy our environment , we shall have nowhere else
to run to, tuko na Busia county moja tu, hence he has been pro-environment – I really
appreciate his afforestration and tree planting programs
-
While most counties are embroiled in tussles and
daily squabbles pitting the executive versus the MCAs, OJ has been able to
strike a balance between the two, his wise leadership has ensured that Busia
remains operational even as some counties run by professors remain on the brink
of total collapse !
Am proud of my Governor OJ, am proud of his team – and if
this is what earns some of us the sycophant tag, so be it !
